I’ve thought about turbocharging a Chinese scooter before... !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ...wow.
Look at that snail!
That is correct, 1977 turbo goldwing, this thing did wheelies. About 10 years ago I blew the seal on the turbo while riding, removed the turbo, and had it sent in to rebuild. Rebuilder suggested an oil cooler, purchased and installed that, but never reinstalled the turbo. Old gas now in gas tank, carbs were run out, so they should not need a rebuild. Brakes are good, bike has been stored away from the elements in my garage.
FYI, Price is solid, 2000 is my bottom price, have more than double that into it, have receipts for the turbo rebuild apx 500 bucks alone, custom exhaust and jetting holley carbs to match ALONE is worth what I’m asking.
Randaak sold super chargers ALONE, no carbs, no bike, no oil cooler, for OVER 5000!!!!
Includes - Electronic ignition, super coils
Missing - Front foot pegs on both sides were misplaced, sidecover has part of it cracked off, and bike does not have a seat. Missing key and lock for gas tank access.
Needs old gas removed and turbo reinstalled.
Carbs are a 2 barrel holley carb from a car.
This is custom, heads were reworked for higher compression, spark plugs holes have been modified for special sparkplugs. One of a kind unit, always turned heads and faster than crotchrockets, total fucking sleeper if they pull up on the opposite side of turbo!!!
Wheelies on a Goldwing sounds both hilarious and terrifying in equal measure. Surely those brakes are absolutely useless, right?
This is why I always have a window open to FB Marketplace and Craigslist.
Wait, I wonder...
TIL: Slapping turbos on big old bikes is definitely a thing!

Good enough of a reason to have sissy bars on a motorcycle as I have ever seen.

For once I’m actually glad I’m not sitting on a pile of disposable money. And given this guy’s condition, trades are definitely out of the question! lol

Translations:
this thing did wheelies
Consider replacing the seat. At least scrub it with bleach. I shit my pants on it the one time I rode it.
I blew the seal on the turbo while riding
I actually cooked the bearings because I didn’t know turbos needed oil
Rebuilder suggested an oil cooler
My rebuilder is polite and lets me live out my delusions
but never reinstalled the turbo
I’m terrified of what I have created and haven’t ridden since the first time
Old gas now in gas tank
You’re gonna need a chisel
carbs were run out, so they should not need a rebuild
seals have dried out and will definitely need a rebuild
Brakes are good useless
FTFY
bike has been stored away from the elements in my garage.
It’s been leaning out behind my garage for the last 10 years, but it had a cover on it. Same thing
FYI, Price is solid, 2000 is my bottom price, have more than double that into it, have receipts for the turbo rebuild apx 500 bucks alone, custom exhaust and jetting holley carbs to match ALONE is worth what I’m asking.
I KNOW WHAT I GOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Randaak sold super chargers ALONE, no carbs, no bike, no oil cooler, for OVER 5000!!!!
There’s a reason Randaak is out of business.
Includes - Electronic ignition, super coils
Includes - Shit you wont get around to installing because this heap needs so much other work, like a bottom end rebuild
Missing - Front foot pegs on both sides were misplaced, sidecover has part of it cracked off, and bike does not have a seat. Missing key and lock for gas tank access.
Missing - Any semblance of a functional motorcycle
Needs old gas removed and turbo reinstalled.
Needs to be pushed off a cliff
Carbs are a 2 barrel holley carb from a car.
I have no idea what I’m doing but my ex-brother-in-law gave me the carb of of his Camero and it kinda worked
This is custom
I’m an idiot
heads were reworked for higher compression
I know nothing about turbo engines but this sounds cool and fast
spark plugs holes have been modified for special sparkplugs.
I broke a plug off, tried to drill it out, fucked up and wound up installing a helicoil. I did this to all 4 cylinders so they’d match.
One of a kind unit
Because no one else would be dumb enough to build a piece of shit like this
always turned heads
Away from the awful noxious fumes from my inability to properly jet a carb
faster than crotchrockets
I’ ve literally never raced anyone on this
total fucking sleeper if they pull up on the opposite side of turbo!!!
I’m a total fucking sleeper when I pass out in a drunken stupor in my laz-e-boy after smashing an 18 pack of Miller Lite and dream about what a badass motorcycle racer I am, beating all the works bikes at the Grand Prix of the Americas on my 77 Goldwing.

The old turbos weren’t as earth shattering as you would think. The biggest problem was the low compression at low RPM s. It made the old turbo bikes super slow on the bottom end. Hit 3,000 and it was a completely different bike. I used to own one myself.
The forks were too spindly and the brakes were undersized. I came up against a modern 600 and we were about evenly matched, but the on/off nature of the turbo made mine a lot more difficult to control.
I miss it dearly, but I have no illusions about the amazing performance of a turbocharged bike.

Oh, I know old turbos weren’t as amazing as they sound . However, in this case someone went and took a naturally aspirated bike and shoved a snail into it. lol
A GL1000 was already a fast bike for its day and can still probably outrun some slower modern bikes. I wonder what the top speed was before it all blew up on him?

Good question. The Seca 650 Turbo topped out around 135 mph with the upgraded boost kit.

Thank you . People keep liking this, and it keeps bringing me back to it and I laugh every time . I had entirely too much fun with it.
The thing is, I’m gonna have to admit this, it actually sounds like kind of a cool project. But alll the hyperbole just made it too irresistable to rip into.
